Breaking News in Louisiana: You may be eligible for a grant of up to $10,000 to upgrade your roof to a Fortified Roof and improve your home insurance options at the same time!

Introducing: Fortified Roofing

As locals know, Louisiana faces more than our fair share of natural disasters every year such as hurricanes and floods. As a result, many homes have been damaged or destroyed, leaving homeowners struggling to recover from the losses and insurance companies reeling.

To help mitigate the impact of these disasters and improve our insurance situation, the Louisiana government has implemented the Fortify Homes Grant Program. This program aims to assist homeowners in fortifying their homes against future natural disasters.

The Louisiana Fortify Homes Grant Program

The Louisiana Fortify Homes Program is rolling out with the goal of making our homes more resilient than ever before. The heart of this initiative lies in providing grants—up to $10,000—to eligible homeowners.

Insurance Benefits

More good news for homeowners is that state law mandates that insurance providers are now required to offer discounted rates to people who have a fortified roof.

Savings range from 20-52% off the wind portion of the property owner’s insurance.

Investing in Resilience

Unlike loans, these grants don’t have to be repaid. They are investments in resiliency, ensuring their properties are fortified against high winds of up to 150 mph and impervious to water damage. The program’s focus extends beyond roofs, encompassing techniques that reinforce foundations, strengthen windows, doors, skylights, and more.

Application Period

The application period for the Louisiana Fortify Homes Program is now open as of October 2023. It’s an opportunity for homeowners to embrace resilience, fortify their homes, and potentially reduce their property insurance premiums in the process.
